By securing his 400th win at the helm of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola clinched a spot in the Top 8 of the UEFA Champions League—allowing the Citizens to narrowly avoid the playoffs.
Manchester City defeated Galatasaray 2-0 on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium. The victory was secured thanks to goals from Erling Haaland (11’) and Rayan Cherki (29’), propelling the English side to 8th place with 16 points.
It was a special night for Pep Guardiola, who notched his 400th official win as Manchester City manager—a club he joined in July 2016. He has overseen a total of 569 matches with an incredible win rate of nearly 70.3%.
The Catalan tactician has outperformed former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, who needed 696 games to reach 400 victories, and the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, who achieved the milestone in his 732nd match with Manchester United.
In 569 games, the ex-Barcelona coach has recorded 400 wins, 82 draws, and 87 defeats. These impressive stats have seen him lift 18 trophies since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium.
