The incident, which attracted widespread criticism across Europe, prompted an investigation by UEFA’s disciplinary bodies.

After reviewing the evidence, European football’s governing body concluded that Eintracht Frankfurt’s fans breached several regulations related to crowd control and stadium safety.

As a result, the German club will face both financial and sporting consequences.

What are the fines and punishments?

At the heart of the ruling is a significant fine and a restriction on supporter attendance.

Eintracht Frankfurt have been handed a total financial penalty of €38,000

More importantly, they will be barred from selling tickets to their fans for their next two away matches in UEFA club competitions.

UEFA determined that the visiting supporters violated multiple sections of Article 16 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.

The club was sanctioned for “throwing objects, setting off fireworks, and damaging the stadium and/or its facilities.”

It was also punished for “causing disturbances among the public.”

The decision was formally issued by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body. In its official ruling, UEFA outlined the breakdown of the sanctions and the reasons behind them.

“Prohibit Eintracht Frankfurt from selling tickets to its visiting fans for the next UEFA club competition match for lighting and throwing fireworks and causing disturbances among the public.

“To fine Eintracht Frankfurt €30,000 and to prohibit it from selling tickets to its visiting fans for one (1) additional UEFA club competition match for setting off fireworks and throwing objects; and to fine Eintracht Frankfurt €8,000 for damage.”

Beyond the immediate penalties, UEFA has also demanded accountability for the physical damage caused at the stadium.

The German club has been instructed “to contact FC Barcelona within 30 days of notification of this decision to repair the damage caused by its fans during the away match.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona are already preparing a detailed claim. The Catalan club intends to request €6,100 to cover repairs to the barrier separating supporters, damaged seating, vandalised toilets, and other unacceptable acts.
