Unai Núñez cleared to play as Valencia registration confirmed | OneFootball

Unai Núñez has been cleared to play, with Valencia completing his LaLiga registration on Thursday afternoon. The centre-back could make his debut on Sunday against Real Betis at La Cartuja.

According to Superdeporte, the club finalised the outstanding paperwork with the Italian federation and registered the defender. He will wear number four, inherited from Mouctar Diakhaby, who has been deregistered following a serious right hamstring injury.

Núñez had travelled and stayed with the squad for last weekend’s win over Espanyol at Mestalla but was unavailable to Carlos Corberán while the transfer paperwork was pending. That issue is now resolved.

He has trained as normal since arriving from Hellas Verona, where he made 17 league appearances and one cup outing, and is ready for his first minutes. He says he feels fit, is eager to play and is at the manager’s disposal to help immediately.

Núñez added that he prefers to look upwards rather than down the table, while recognising the reality of the team’s situation. He spoke of giving everything for his team-mates and keeping goals conceded low to increase the chances of adding points.
