Chelsea still have full faith in under fire goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and the Spaniard is highly rated by the club’s technical team according to journalist Rahman Osman.
Sanchez arrived at Chelsea from Brighton in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth £25m and pretty much from the moment he signed he’s divided opinion.
The 26-year-old lost his place to Djordje Petrovic through injury last December and didn’t win his place back in the side, with the Serbian impressing in his absence.
Despite Petrovic’s form he was sent on loan to Strasbourg, whilst the Blues made the decision Sanchez would be their number one this season even though they signed Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal in the summer.
Sanchez has had some good moments this season including games against Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, but he’s continued to make errors on a consistent basis.
The Spain international was at fault for both goals the Blues conceded against Brighton, whilst he gave away a penalty against Manchester United and should have done better with goals conceded against Liverpool and Arsenal.
Enzo Maresca has defended the under fire Spaniard on several occasions this season, but calls for him to be replaced are growing louder.

It was recently reported Chelsea fully believe in Sanchez and feel he has all the ingredients to be one of the best keepers in the Premier League.
Stories surfaced that Chelsea were interested in signing Liverpool shot stopper Caoimhin Kelleher, but they have again been shut down with the club’s faith in Sanchez further reiterated.
Osman has now reported that Sanchez is highly rated by the technical team at Chelsea in what appears to be yet more public backing for the player.
He took to X.com and said:
“Sanchez might have his weaknesses but he’s highly-rated by the technical team. Does so many things right. You just have to see how the manager communicates with him during games. Comes across as mentally strong too.”

With a crucial run of games coming in the build-up to Christmas and the table so tight, Chelsea really can’t afford for Sanchez to keep making errors.
Everyone would love for him to turn things round but it just feels with the evidence so far that simply isn’t going to happen.
