Although they might be focused on completing some sales before the end of this month, one of the main objectives for FC Barcelona in this summer transfer window is going to be the signing of a new center-forward who can replace Robert Lewandowski in their squad.

The Catalans have a clear candidate for this role, i.e., the Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez. However, their attempts to land the Argentine have proved unsuccessful so far, as their first offer for him was met with ridicule by the Colchonero club.

Meanwhile, the Blaugranes continue to work towards the aim of completing this transfer in this summer transfer window, and are expected to make some more moves in the coming weeks and months.

In this regard, Mundo Deportivo notes that there would be a good opportunity for them to have a direct, although informal, talk with the Atletico Madrid Director of Football, Mateu Alemany, this week, as he has been invited to the wedding ceremony of the former Barcelona Director Joan Soler.

Soler resigned from his post along with Joan Laporta before the last presidential elections, and is set to return with the president-elect on 1st July. He formed a close bond of friendship with Alemany, when the latter served as the Director of Football at Barcelona between March 2021 and September 2023.

There is no doubt that this would an event to celebrate one of the most important milestones in Joan Soler’s personal life. However, with the likes of Laporta, Deco, and Alemany all present at the same venue, one cannot rule out there being discussions about Julian Alvarez.
