It appears as if Manchester United transfer target Dusan Vlahovic has decided which club he would like to join this summer, if reports are to be believed.
Given the club’s desperate need for firepower up front, the club has been linked with an array of strikers this transfer window, including Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, and Ollie Watkins.
Still, one striker whom United appeared to be gaining ground on was Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic.
Strong links
Last month, Man United reportedly held talks with Vlahovic’s agents.
A few days later, it seemed as if the player himself was readying himself for a move to Old Trafford, with reports claiming that he dreams of a move to the Premier League.
Adding to United fans’ hopes was the claim that Vlahovic was edging away from Juventus, with the Italian giants already searching for a replacement.
Soon enough, the idea of a deal appeared to start materialising.
Formulating a deal
Last week, The Peoples Person relayed that Vlahovic was reportedly gearing up to depart from Juventus.
More specifically, the player allegedly outlined the terms under which he would be willing to depart the club, namely, by maintaining his steep salary. Furthermore, his agents reportedly sought €10 million for Vlahovic to leave, namely, €5 million for the player and another €5 million for themselves.
What’s more, Juventus reportedly set a price range of €25 million to €30 million for the player, making it appear as if they were willing to part ways with Vlahovic.
Now, it seems as if the Serbian striker has made up his mind on the move he hopes to make this summer.
United get snubbed
“Manchester United’s hunt for a bargain striker has hit a significant setback with Dusan Vlahovic set to snub a move to Old Trafford in favour of joining AC Milan,” The Sun reported.
“Vlahovic scored ten goals for Juventus last season and has once again been linked to United in recent times as Ruben Amorim looks to rebuild the once-great club. But Sunsport understands that the Serbian forward favours a move to AC Milan, if he agrees a deal with Juventus to go their separate ways this summer,” the article continued.
Still, this report raises some questions.
Firstly, United have not reportedly expressed an explicit interest in signing the player, meaning he couldn’t have actually turned them down.
Furthermore, while the article claims that he is edging toward a deal with Milan, it appears highly unlikely that the Italians will be able to afford his pay demands.
Calcio Mercato reported that AC Milan are unlikely to be able to offer him a salary beyond €6 million per season, meaning that Vlahovic’s demands would not be met.
No matter what the reports suggest, United would do well to inquire about other striker targets as well, rather than putting all their eggs in one basket.
After all, it has been a quiet transfer window to date, meaning that United may need to ramp up their efforts so as not to be left disappointed when the new season gets underway.
