Mauricio Pochettino has named the United States squad for the World Cup, which runs from 11 June to 19 July. Timothy Weah and Folarin Balogun are included, but Lyon midfielder Tanner Tessmann misses out.
According to L'Équipe, the Argentine coach selected three Ligue 1 players, with Monaco’s Balogun, Marseille’s Weah and Toulouse defender Mark McKenzie unveiled at a New York ceremony where each call-up stepped on stage.
Tessmann, sidelined during Lyon’s run-in, was not picked. Matt Turner was called, the goalkeeper plays for New England Revolution but remains on Lyon’s books.
USA head to the finals with 13 players who featured in Qatar four years ago, among them Turner, Weah, Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie.
As co-hosts with Canada and Mexico, they are in Group D alongside Australia, Paraguay and Türkiye. The last time the country staged the tournament, in 1994, they exited in the round of 16.
