Valencia’s build-up to their LaLiga meeting with Atlético de Madrid has begun with mixed fortunes at the Paterna training ground. According to Superdeporte, Carlos Corberán’s squad experienced contrasting updates on player fitness.
Luis Rioja sat out training as a precaution due to muscle discomfort. The coaching staff remain optimistic he could be available for the league fixture, with his status dependent on how he progresses in the coming days.
In better news, Eray Cömert worked at the start of the session with the group, a step forward in the final phase of his recovery. The centre-back is accelerating his return and could become a short-term option to bolster the back line. He has not yet been ruled out for Saturday and is keen to return as soon as possible.
Unai Núñez trained normally and will be at Corberán’s disposal, fully fit to face Atlético.
Valencia will continue preparations this week while monitoring fitness developments ahead of Saturday’s match.
