Valencia handed boost as Unai Núñez trains before Girona test | OneFootball

Valencia are preparing for Saturday’s meeting with Girona at Mestalla, a pivotal fixture in their fight to stay in Primera División. Training brought a lift as Unai Núñez worked with the group on Thursday.

El Chiringuito reports that Eray Cömert has reopened the scar from his injury, so he is ruled out against Girona and his availability for Atlético de Madrid remains uncertain.

Núñez could partner César Tárrega at centre-back, after Pepelu covered in that role against Mallorca. The Basque defender and the Alaquàs native are the only specialist centre-backs available.

Carlos Corberán’s side were held to a draw at Son Moix, and their situation has become increasingly fraught. They need a strong response at home.

To complete sessions, Corberán has drafted in several academy players. Even so, a debut appears unlikely given none have featured all season.
