Valencia’s majority shareholder Peter Lim has returned to the city for the first time since 2019, meeting executives and touring the Nou Mestalla works, which are advancing with the aim of the stadium being ready next season.
The club said in a statement that Lim visited after the 2026 World Cup, where Spain won a second star, to meet Fundació VCF director Inma Ibáñez and inspect the site. It also published images from inside the construction area at the stadium on Cortes Valencianas.
He was accompanied by general director Javier Solís, director of operations and infrastructure Christian Schneider, and Valencia’s CEO of football Ron Gourlay.
On that visit in 2019 he watched Valencia face Real Madrid at Mestalla.
Back then the team were competing for trophies and a Champions League place, while in recent seasons it has fought to avoid relegation. The stadium works were then halted, and are now under way again following a financing agreement with Goldman Sachs.
