Valencia missed their fourth league penalty of the season at San Mamés, with Hugo Duro striking the bar at 0-0.

Duro is the third Valencia player to miss from the spot this season. The club have been awarded nine penalties including the San Mamés attempt, five have resulted in goals.

The other three failed efforts came from Danjuma against Real Oviedo, and from Pepelu against Celta and Real Betis.

Like Duro in Bilbao, Pepelu missed with the score at 0-0, at Balaídos and at La Cartuja.

Danjuma’s spot-kick came at Mestalla with Valencia 1-0 up, a moment that could have been a turning point, as they went on to lose 1-2 to the bottom club.
