Valencia endured an afternoon to forget at Mestalla against Atlético, with most falling short and Dimitrievski the clear standout. According to AS, the goalkeeper kept the score from worsening before the break.
The first half underlined the pattern. Ramazani provided the only spark, rattling the post, while Saravia was overrun, Pepelu faded and looked uncomfortable at centre-back, and Gayà struggled.
Atlético’s second came amid a major mistake by Tárrega. In midfield, Guido took risks that did not pay off, neither winning the ball nor creating, Javi Guerra lacked rhythm, and Ugrinic, deployed as a third midfielder, wasted a good opening with poor decisions.
Luis Rioja offered little incision and, when breaking in the second half, chose the wrong option. Sadiq remained peripheral and saw a strike ruled out.
From the bench, Hugo Duro briefly threatened before fading. Diego López lacked spark and finished at full-back, Danjuma showed flashes of dribbling, while Jesús Vázquez and Raba failed to influence proceedings.
