Valencia and Real Madrid meet at Mestalla on Sunday in one of LaLiga’s most storied fixtures. Corberán’s side arrive after a Copa del Rey exit to Athletic Club, while Arbeloa’s team have not lost in LaLiga since seven December.
According to Superdeporte, Carlos Corberán had Ugrinic and Copete back in Friday training after knocks against Athletic, but Agirrezabala, Diakhaby and Thierry are sidelined.
For Madrid, Vinícius is suspended after an unnecessary booking in their last game. Militao and Bellingham are injured, with a return targeted for March if all goes well.
Trent, Mendy, Rüdiger and Carvajal remain doubts until late, though they trained on Friday under Arbeloa. Rodrygo Goes did not train as he is being protected, with the intention that he could start on the left on Sunday.
Madrid’s recent crisis included a Copa del Rey exit to Albacete and defeat to Benfica in the Champions League, which dropped them out of the top eight and means another meeting with the Portuguese in the next round.
If Valencia fail to win, they could slip back into the relegation places. Madrid are chasing a return to the summit, with Barça one point clear.
