Pablo Vegetti’s confirmed exit to Cerro Porteño has pushed Vasco da Gama back into the market, with Deivid Washington of Chelsea emerging as a target for 2026. The Rio club are monitoring the player’s situation as they reset their attack.
According to PaponaColina, the pursuit marks a shift in profile, from Vegetti’s physical focal point to a more mobile forward involved in build-up. The change aligns with head coach Fernando Diniz’s wish for a more fluid attack. PaponaColina adds that Vasco have agreed salary terms with Douglas Luiz and are seeking a release from Juventus, underlining a focus on Brazilian talents based in England.
Prising a prospect from the Premier League is financially complex, and the deal is viewed as delicate given Chelsea’s recent investment. Vasco are studying different structures, such as a shop-window loan, to make a move viable.
Washington, 20, came through at Santos and moved to London in 2023 for about 15 million euros plus bonuses. The club see him as matching the attacking profile they want for the new cycle.
He played in the 2023 Brasileiro for Santos and had a brief return in 2025, experience the club believe would ease his adaptation. A modern forward, he can operate centrally or from wide, a trait Diniz values for tempo and movement.
