Vasco ‘to demand’ Flamengo-style terms for new main sponsor | OneFootball

Vasco have received a multi-million offer from a betting company to become the club’s new main sponsor, but they want terms comparable to Flamengo before agreeing.

According to ESPN, Vasco believe that, as a national club, they should be paid in line with four Brazilian sides, namely Flamengo, Palmeiras, Corinthians and São Paulo.

The betting company is said to argue there is no reason to raise the proposal, noting that those other contracts were signed when the market was inflated.

Vasco have until Wednesday 29 to decide whether to accept the current offer. The aim is to conclude a deal in May, before a clássico at the Maracanã.

Betano are Flamengo’s main sponsor and pay about R$ 268 million per season, making Flamengo the highest-earning club in Brazil for sponsorship.
