A 7.5-magnitude earthquake in Venezuela could force Santos’ Copa Sul-Americana play-off with Universidad Central to be staged in another city near Caracas. The club is monitoring the situation.

According to Globo.com, Santos are scheduled to face Universidad Central on 21 July at the Estadio Olimpico de la UCV in the capital.

The quake struck the north, including Caracas, causing at least 920 deaths and 2,890 injuries, and around 250 buildings collapsed or were damaged.

Universidad Central are mourning 18-year-old Yimvert Berroterán, widely viewed as a national prospect, who was among the victims.

The return match is on 28 July at Vila Belmiro, and the winners will meet Macará of Ecuador in the round of 16.
