Chelsea are “scared” of doing anything which requires Mike Penders to go out on loan for three years in a row according to Matt Law.
The Blues are once again set for another busy summer and have already completed the £30m signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich.
Chelsea face a critical window and whilst another striker could come in they are looking for a centre back and left winger to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.
Whilst incomings are important Chelsea also need to find suitable loans for a number of their talented youngsters who they highly rate.
Penders falls into that category and Chelsea agreed a deal to sign the 19-year-old last summer for around €20m and he remained with Belgian side Genk last season.
The teenager made 21 appearances in the Belgian league and Chelsea are said to have high hopes for Penders.

Penders expressed last month all options were still on the table, but it’s possible he could join Strasbourg, with Kendry Paez and Mathis Amougou set to join the Ligue 1 outfit.
Law has provided an update on Penders and revealed Chelsea are “scared” of doing anything which requires the keeper to spend three seasons in a row on loan.
“They [Chelsea] are very scared on Penders, of doing anything that requires him to go out on loan for three years on the trot, because I think they’re mindful of what happened with Courtois and Chelsea, where he came back to Chelsea and actually felt no attachment to Chelsea,” he told The London Is Blue Podcast.
Courtois spent three years on loan at Atletico Madrid before returning to Chelsea and eventually joining Real Madrid.
Whilst Penders is very much viewed as the future, Chelsea have looked at bringing a new keeper in and were strongly linked with Mike Maignan.

The Blues failed to agree a deal as they weren’t prepared to meet AC Milan’s valuation of around £20m, and will only go back in if Milan drop their asking price.
It’s been reported Chelsea are also considering signing Maignan on a free transfer in 2026, although they will likely face more competition.
