“Very well coached” – Gianfranco Zola reveals Chelsea’s “big strength” as he praises Maresca | OneFootball

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola believes the Blues look very “strong” and are well coached and organised under Enzo Maresca.

Maresca guided Chelsea to their third semi final in 18 months as they beat Cardiff 3-1 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

The Blues also sit fourth in the Premier League and are on course to qualify for at least the playoff round in the Champions League.

Gianfranco Zola on Chelsea’s biggest strength

There’s no doubt Chelsea have had a mixed start to the season, but having gone on a four game winless streak, the Blues have now won their last two games.

Chelsea face a difficult trip to St James’ Park on Saturday, where a win would breathe huge confidence into the rest of the Christmas period.

Maresca reportedly has an internal issue at Chelsea, but as long as he keeps getting results on the pitch, that’s unlikely to be made into a bigger issue.

Chelsea certainly improved last season as they finished fourth and won both the Conference League and Club World Cup.

Once again Chelsea will be aiming to improve their league form and add another trophy to the cabinet, and Zola believe the current side looks “so strong.”

“Looking at them now, they look so strong,” Zola said as cited on X.com.

“I mean, it’s a team that is very well coached without doubt, organised.

“They have a lot of talent in different areas of the pitch. And on top of that, something that is a big strength for Chelsea, they have a lot of energy.”

Chelsea not expected to be in position to win the league this season

With the Blues showing signs of making progress, the expectation on Maresca is once again believed to be to deliver Champions League football.
