Arsenal have reached an agreement with Shamrock Rovers for teen star Victor Ozhianvuna.
The deal is understood to be worth around €2million (£1.7m) plus add-ons and Ozhianvuna will join Arsenal in January 2027, when he turns 18.
The 16-year-old forward has already broken into the first team at Shamrock Rovers, making 16 appearances in all competitions following his debut earlier this year.
Ozhianvuna became the second-youngest player ever to feature in the UEFA Conference League back in February and he scored his first goal a few months later.
Shamrock have described the deal as a “a landmark transfer in Irish football” and are delighted he will stay with them until January 2027.
Ozhianvuna has been with the club since he was six years old and Shamrock view the deal as a triumph for their academy.
“Delighted to have signed for this amazing club that I have supported since I was a boy,” Ozhianvuna wrote on Instagram. “Excited to get started.
“Thank you to everyone who has helped me get here and thank you God for everything you’ve done me.”
Arsenal have been working hard to recruit players at youth level and Ozhianvuna is the latest addition to their academy.
“We have reached an agreement for Victor Ozhianvuna to join us from League of Ireland Premier Division side Shamrock Rovers in January 2027, when he turns 18 years old,” Arsenal wrote in a statement.
“The 16-year-old forward has already excelled at the senior level, making 16 first-team appearances for Shamrock Rovers in all competitions following his debut earlier this year.
“In February, Victor became the second-youngest player to ever feature in the UEFA Conference League, coming on as a substitute in Shamrock Rovers’ second-leg intermediate stage fixture against Molde FK. His first goal came just a few months later in an FAI Cup second round victory against Wexford FC.
“Victor is a Republic of Ireland youth international and has made nine appearances between under-15 and under-18 level for his country.
“Everyone at Arsenal is excited to welcome Victor to the club in the near future. The transfer is subject to the competition of regulatory processes.”
