Celtic fans were never going to be happy to see their side lose a Glasgow Derby at home. It was the perfect opportunity to avenge their loss at Ibrox from earlier in the season. After playing 120 minutes, plus penalties, against Fenerbahce just a couple of days back, the Rangers were expected to be tired this weekend.
Instead, it is Celtic who looked lethargic at the start of the game and went into the break a couple of goals down. They did well to come back from behind and make it 2-2, only to throw all their good work away at the end by conceding in the 88th minute.
There was tension in the main stand behind the Rangers dugout. The supporters appeared to be furious with the reaction of the visitors bench to the winning goal.
Initially, it was unclear what exactly had angered the supporters. But now, there is some clarity on the matter. As reported by Balls.ie, footage that has appeared on social media after the game appears to show Rangers players heading straight to the Celtic fans after the late winner and spraying them with water.
To be honest, the angle of the video is not exactly clear. So, it is tough to say whether the water had landed on the fans or just in a general direction.
No matter what the case, one can only hope that the authorities take a look at the incident after the game. At the end of the day, it is not why Celtic ended up losing on the day.
That is what has to be the focus of the players, coaches, board and fans coming out of this game. Losing back-to-back Glasgow Derbies is never acceptable at a club like Celtic.
