Despite a win at the weekend, Enzo Maresca remains under huge pressure at Chelsea.

Everything we hear from those connected at the club say his job is safe, and that those in charge aren’t even thinking about getting rid of him. But the fans aren’t happy with the performances or the football his team are playing, and that sense of dissatisfaction inevitably leaks into the press conference and into the minds of the players.

It was glorious to win with two late goals, but the performance as a whole wasn’t much of an improvement of the majority of the dross we’ve seen since Christmas. On ESPN, they asked Frank Leboeuf what he made of Chelsea’s progress and whether Maresca was going to survive even if his team complete their post-Christmas collapse and miss out on the top 5 and a Champions League place.

“I don’t feel that he’s at risk right now, because I think the club will have to settle down and think ‘ok for once we’ve got to give somebody a chance to carry on’ and to see if they can get better,” the former Blues defender said.

“I’m concerned because we can see the inconsistency the players are showing week in week out. And if they have a catastrophe at the end of the season It may be the end of Enzo Maresca. But I do believe they’re gonna give him a chance. I don’t think, even if they qualify for the Champions League, I don’t think they’re going to chance their policy. We all agree what they need is experienced players.”

He doesn’t sound too convinced that Maresca is the man for the job, let’s be honest.
