In total, Mats Hummels spent 13 years in Dortmund – and yet he almost chose to join another club in 2007. In a wide-ranging interview, Hummels looked back on an epic career in which he became a German champion, won the double and lifted the World Cup before hanging up his boots this summer. The 36-year-old, who – with 508 competitive appearances – sits in second place on the list of BVB's all-time record players, spoke about his first steps, big moments, the outside of his boot, special games but also bitter defeats.
