There are a number of Real Madrid numbers in action at the 2026 World Cup, including Vinicius Junior and Brahim Diaz. The attacking pair faced off late on Saturday when Brazil and Morocco played at the New Jersey Stadium, and they were each decisive for their respective sides.

In the 21st minute of the match in New Jersey, Morocco opened the scoring courtesy of PSV Eindhoven’s Ismael Saibari, but it was a fine through ball from Brahim Diaz that led to the goal. The Real Madrid man’s expert pass left Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker in no-man’s land, and that allowed the Atlas Lions a dream start to their World Cup opener.

Brazil sparked into life after falling behind, and it was no surprise that the equaliser came about about great play from talisman Vinicius Junior, who exchanged passes with Bruno Guimaraes before firing an unstoppable effort into the far corner.

Real Madrid will be pleased to see their stars shining on the World Cup stage, and there will be more in action on Day 3 when Arda Guler’s Türkiye are in action against Australia in a match that kicks off at 6am CEST.

Real Madrid will undoubtedly be pleased that Vinicius and Brahim are in action in North America, although their futures at the Bernabeu have generated some doubts. The former is out of contract next summer, and while he has yet to agree to a new deal, talks are planned for after the World Cup is over. As for Brahim, he’s wanted by Italian giants Juventus, although Los Blancos officials have made it abundantly clear during initial talks that he will not be sold in 2026.
