However, in the 9th minute, Viktor Gyokeres opened the scoring after a brilliant move by Bukayo Saka, who set him up for a close-range finish.

In the 27th minute, Gyokeres came close to doubling Arsenal’s lead, but he was denied by Bernd Leno before Saka fired the rebound wide.

Moments later, Riccardo Calafiori thought he had doubled the Gunners’ lead after he headed home Trossard’s cross, but after a VAR check, the goal was ruled out for offside.

In the 40th minute, Saka doubled Arsenal’s advantage after being picked out by Gyokeres, finishing neatly into the bottom corner.

Moments later, Gyokeres added a third after he met Trossard’s cross to head home from close-range.

Three minutes after the restart, Raul Jimenez tried his luck from distance, but his powerful strike flew off target before Timothy Castagne headed wide from Harrison Reed’s corner.

In the 56th minute, Gyokeres went close to netting a hat-trick after he was found by Trossard, but he was denied by Leno.

At the other end, the Cottagers mustered their first attempt on goal as Castagne’s powerful strike was kept out by David Raya before Emile Smith Rowe fired wide from a tight angle minutes later.

In the 80th minute, the Gunners came close to adding a fourth after Calafiori met Noni Madueke‘s corner, but his header came off the bar.

The result moves Arsenal six points clear of Manchester City in second place, who still have two games in hand.
