In defence, Luiz Júnior took six, with little to do and misfortune for the Alavés goal. Mouriño, also on six, was steady on the right against his former club. Pau Navarro matched that, continuing his progress without major errors.

Rafa Marín received five after a rocky spell before steadying. Cardona, also on five, was pushed by Ángel Pérez and beaten by Ibáñez for the 1-0.

Comesaña earned six, battling without finding the moments or spaces, and he might have scored. Gueye’s five reflected lost duels and a lack of control, with the side improving when Partey came on.

Buchanan took six, threatened without beating his man and looked uncomfortable. Pedraza, also six, swung in several good crosses without a taker, then shifted to full-back. Mikautadze’s five spoke of tidy movement but little cutting edge.

From the bench, Gerard was given six and brought clarity to attacks. Moleiro’s five came with little impact. Partey claimed six as he grew in midfield, and Oluwaseyi battled for his five up front.
