Villasanti returned to the pitch at Grêmio’s CT Luiz Carvalho on Wednesday, marking another step in his recovery from a torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee sustained last August.

According to Globo.com, the midfielder has begun on-pitch work with the physiotherapy staff, still training separately from the main squad.

He remains under the medical department’s care, with grass-based exercises now increasing the demands on the joint.

He is expected to be available for selection from April, and he hopes to play at the World Cup for Paraguay.

Villasanti suffered the injury on 17 August in the 3-1 win over Atlético-MG at Arena MRV.
