Vincent Labrune, president of the LFP, hailed Paris Saint-Germain’s back-to-back Champions League triumph, calling it a powerful signal to French and European football after victory over Arsenal.
PSG drew 1-1 with Arsenal, then won 4-3 on penalties on Saturday in Budapest. According to L'Équipe, Labrune delivered his congratulations from the Hungarian capital.
He said two titles in a row bring immense pride and reflect a robust, long-term project, and he warmly praised the players, staff and the club’s leadership for what he described as a historic win.
Labrune added that successive titles elevate the league and a wider model, including academies, broadcasters and partners. He said 2026-27 will begin with reinforced ambitions, seven French clubs qualified in Europe, and a UEFA ranking that supports major collective goals.
With the World Cup beginning, he wished all Ligue 1 players representing their national teams a strong tournament, saying they carry a part of French football with them and that it once again proved it ranks among the world’s best.
