Vini Jr believes Neymar could still return to the Brazil squad before the World Cup, noting the forward’s influence remains strong. Neymar has not played for the Seleção since 2023.

According to Diario Do Peixe, Vinícius Júnior said Neymar is his idol and friend, and that the No 10 is doing everything to be fully fit and help the team. He stressed the final decision rests with the coach, adding players always want to line up with the best.

He called Neymar the national side’s record scorer and said pressure for his inclusion is natural among fans and within the group given his technical and historical weight.

At Santos, Neymar is being managed carefully on his return. In 2026 he has five appearances, with three goals and two assists, contributing while his workload is controlled.

He missed the last call-up as he was not at the ideal physical level, and continues working to regain rhythm and re-enter contention. Coach Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged outside pressure but said selection will be based on performance and fitness, while insisting he listens to opinions before deciding.

The final World Cup squad is due on 18 May. Until then, Neymar will continue preparing with Santos.
