Vitinho sets up opener but gives Corinthians injury scare with early exit

Corinthians hosted Mirassol on the night of Saturday, October 4th, for the 27th round of the Brasileirão. The team, led by interim coach Lucas Silvestre, won the decisive match 3-0 and climbed up the table, with striker Vitinho making his first goal contribution, though he also worries the club with a possible injury.

Number 29’s participation came in Yuri Alberto’s goal, Timão’s second of the match. In a play started by Breno Bidon, Bidu exchanged passes with Maycon and served Vitinho on the side of the box. The striker passed the ball to number 9, who slotted it into the net with ease.

Minutes later, however, Vitinho felt pain in his knee during an attacking play and, right after the incident, asked to be substituted. The coaching staff immediately accepted the request and brought on midfielder Ryan. Despite this, Corinthians managed to extend the lead.

Now, after hosting Mirassol at home for the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians remain fully focused on the national competition, but will only return to the pitch on October 15th, Wednesday, after the FIFA break. At 9:30 PM (Brasília time), Alvinegro will visit Santos at Vila Belmiro for the 28th round of the Brasileirão.
