Santos held a double session at CT Rei Pelé on Tuesday as head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda began pre-season trials, with Robinho Jr used in the position usually taken by Neymar, who will miss the start of the season. According to Diario Do Peixe, the staff used the day to assess options across the squad.
The morning focused on physical and technical work, including finishing, crossing and aerial drills. Small-sided exercises stressed intensity, movement and decision making.
In the afternoon Vojvoda oversaw a practice game between two sides. It was not an outline of a starting team, rather routine pre-season testing.
The coach mixed his groups and tried players in new roles. Robinho Jr alternated between the wing and midfield for one side, while Rollheiser did likewise for the other, both covering Neymar’s function.
Santos continue a busy week, with three more training days to come. Double sessions are planned for Wednesday and Friday, with Thursday’s work set for the afternoon only, before the Campeonato Paulista opener against Novorizontino at Vila Belmiro on Saturday 10 at 16:00.
