Wales Team News

Craig Bellamy is expected to make several changes from the side that secured a vital 1-0 victory over Kazakhstan in World Cup qualifying action. The Wales boss has the luxury of rotating his squad for this friendly. Goalkeeper Danny Ward remains sidelined through injury, meaning Karl Darlow will continue between the sticks for his ninth international cap.

The injury list is extensive for Wales. Joe Rodon, Connor Roberts, Ethan Ampadu, Nathan Broadhead and Rabbi Matondo are all unavailable. Captain Aaron Ramsey has not been selected despite recently returning to action for Mexican side Pumas UNAM. Bellamy explains that the midfielder “hasn’t played enough football” following his hamstring injury. Jay Dasilva is also ruled out through injury.

Bellamy has called up three uncapped teenagers to the squad – Cardiff City duo Ronan Kpakio and Dylan Lawlor, along with Coventry City’s Kai Andrews. The squad features players from Wrexham for the first time in over a decade, with Danny Ward, Nathan Broadhead and Kieffer Moore all having joined the Welsh club during the summer transfer window. Dylan Lawlor made his senior international debut against Kazakhstan and put in an impressive performance at centre-back, likely keeping his place in the starting eleven.

Canada Team News

Jesse Marsch’s squad continues to be without their star player Alphonso Davies, who is rehabilitating from a torn ACL sustained against the United States in the CONCACAF Nations League Finals in March. The Bayern Munich left-back is ahead of schedule in his recovery and could potentially return for Canada’s November friendlies. The injury list extends beyond Davies, with centre-back Moïse Bombito recovering from wrist surgery. Celtic’s Alistair Johnston is out with a hamstring injury picked up during Champions League qualifying.

Striker Cyle Larin withdrew from the squad for family reasons as his wife was due to give birth. Midfielder Stephen Eustáquio, who captained Canada in their 3-0 victory over Romania, has since left the camp after sustaining a lower-body injury and returned to FC Porto for further evaluation. On a positive note, Jacob Shaffelburg returns from suspension after missing the Romania fixture following his red card against Guatemala during the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Young full-back Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty could earn his first cap for Canada, having impressed while on loan at Charlotte FC in MLS. Jonathan Osorio and Kamal Miller were notable omissions from Marsch’s squad, while promising youngster Luc de Fougerolles continues to shine for the national side.

Form

Wales: WDWLW

Wales is coming into this match after a win against Kazakhstan by 1-0 and will look to carry the momentum with them. They can experiment with the squad due to the travel issues and also because it is a friendly match.

Canada: WDWLW

Canada ended their Gold Cup campaign when they lost in the quarter finals against Guatemala on penalties, but then bounced back with a 3-0 victory against Romania and will definitely want to keep the winning run going.

Predicted Lineups

Wales: Darlow; Mepham, Davies, Lawlor; Thomas, Cullen, Sheehan, Brooks, Williams; Cullen, Moore.

Canada: Crepeau; Marshall-Rutty, De Fougerolles, Cornelius, Laryea; Buchanan, Kone, Eustaquio, Shaffelburg; Oluwaseyi, David
