Wales make the trip to Vaduz this weekend aiming for a vital win that could significantly impact their World Cup qualification hopes.
Facing off against the lowest-ranked team in Group J, Craig Bellamy’s squad are determined to move one step closer to securing a place in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
They sit third in the table, three points behind North Macedonia who occupy the play-off spot. The two nations face off in the final group game next week.
Bellamy has been clear about his commitment to Wales’ World Cup qualification efforts, quietly dismissing rumours linking him to the Celtic managerial job and focusing on leading the national team through the crucial play-off stages in March, as well as beyond to Euro 2028.
Captain Ben Davies will miss the game due to a hamstring injury he picked up during his milestone 100th cap against Belgium last month. The absence of the experienced Tottenham defender is a major setback for Bellamy’s defensive line, particularly with additional injuries ruling out Ben Cabango and Aaron Ramsey’s withdrawal from the squad.
Leeds United’s Ethan Ampadu has been entrusted with the captaincy duties, having been a consistent leader for his club since mid-2024. Alongside him, fellow Leeds defender Joe Rodon continues to impress, having scored his maiden international goal in Wales’ 3-0 triumph over Liechtenstein in June and added another goal against Belgium more recently.
Returning from injury, winger Dan James is back in the mix after missing previous squad selections with an ankle problem. Harry Wilson, notable for his goal in the previous clash with Liechtenstein, is also available for selection. Tottenham attacker Brennan Johnson supplies an attacking threat, with Mark Harris and Nathan Broadhead competing for starting positions in the forward line.
Possible Wales starting XI: Darlow; Mepham, Rodon, Lawlor; Thomas, Ampadu, Cullen, Williams; Wilson, Johnson; Harris
The match will kick off at 5pm BST on Saturday, 15th November.
For viewers in the UK, the match will be broadcast live on BBC One Wales, S4C, BBC iPlayer, and the BBC Sport website, ensuring fans can follow the action across multiple platforms.
