Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz participated in the final of the AFCON last night as Morocco took on Senegal for the title.

The versatile star, who enjoyed a dream run up until last night’s clash, was seen to be the one who could guide his nation to the title. However, the game saw serious drama unfold at the tail end.

A late penalty after the 90-minute mark handed Morocco the chance to score and take the title home, with Senegal players even controversially leaving the field in sign of protest.

They eventually did return, but Brahimmissed the penalty attempting a Panenka and Senegal went on to score in extra-time and win the title.

Real Madrid teammate reacts

One of the reactions to the incident going viral is that of Real Madrid star and Brahim’s teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Englishman was streaming the game live with his brother Marcel at the time and their conversation around the time the penalty was taken is going viral.

The Real Madrid star was first asked by his brother as to what Diaz’s approach to the spot-kick would be

“How is he going to take it?,” he was asked by Marcel.

Trent’s reply to the question was fairly straightforward as he conveyed that he sensed something out of the blue given the player’s nature.

“Well, I don’t know. The truth is that he takes them very differently.”

The winger then stepped up for the penalty and surprised everyone by attempting a Panenka which was heroically saved by Senegal’s goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

“My God. What has he done? Why did he do that? This has to be black magic. But what has he done?,” Marcel instantly reacted after the missed penalty.

Trent, meanwhile, left the frame in shock and his instant reaction was thus not recorded.

Considering how Brahim had the entire fate of his country’s AFCON chances and a special title completely in his control, it will be a tough pill for the Moroccan star to swallow.

Real Madrid, needless to say, will hope he can put it past him soon and return to the club’s dynamics.
