Real Madrid get the last laugh over Lamine Yamal thanks to victory in Sunday’s El Clasico
Vinicius Jr and Lamine Yamal had to be kept apart as tempers boiled over at the end of Real Madrid’s victory over Barcelona.
The top two in Spain clashed in the first El Clasico of the season on Sunday, with Los Blancos claiming all three points thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham in a frantic first-half at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Aside from the obvious implications when the two rivals meet, one of the major talking points ahead going into the game were comments made by Yamal.
As reported by ESPN, the Barcelona teenager appeared on the YouTube channel for the Kings League - a competition run by former Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique.
When asked if Porcinos, the rivals of La Capital - who Pique has just become president of - this weekend, are the same as Real Madrid, Yamal said: "Yes, they rob [a reference to refereeing decisions]; they complain; they do things.”
While Real Madrid head coach Alonso refused to be drawn on the comments when addressing the media in the pre-match press conference on Saturday, it would appear that several Real Madrid players did not take too kindly to Yamal’s claim.
According to Marca, Dani Carvajal was planning on ‘confronting’ his Spain international and footage of the pair in a heated discussion has since gone viral on social media.
Furthermore, the clip shows Vini Jir getting involved with Yamal - seemingly offering to meet the Barcelona wonderkid in the tunnel - but they were were kept apart by players and officials from both sides.
The Brazilian ultimately joined in the post-match celebrations with his Real Madrid team-mates as they opened up a five-point gap at the top of LaLiga.
Vini Jr watched the closing minutes from the sidelines after being substituted by Alonso - and the forward did not react positively to the decision as he stormed down the tunnel before later returning to the bench.
