La Liga giants Real Madrid on Monday made use of the opportunity to pay their respects to former Liverpool star Diogo Jota.

After arriving in England ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with the reigning Premier League holders, Real Madrid sent a delegation to Jota’s personal memorial.

The Portuguese lost his life in devastating fashion back in July, after being involved in a fatal car crash which also killed brother André Silva.

Putting football rivalries to the side, Xabi Alonso, Dean Huijsen and Emilio Butragueño therefore joined Jota’s former Liverpool teammate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, in paying their respects this evening.

Blancos headmaster Alonso also added a wreath to the memorial on behalf of Real Madrid, as showcased in the footage below:

La Liga table-toppers Real are primed to make the trip to Anfield on Tuesday night, to play their part in the headline fixture of the Champions League gameweek.

The capital outfit enter the matchup brimming with confidence, fresh off making it 13 wins from 14 across all competitions this season courtesy of a 4-0 drubbing of Valencia over the weekend.
