Wayne Rooney was on the Overlap this week comparing two of the best strikers the Premier League has seen: Didier Drogba and Erling Haaland.

It’s a rare midweek off for Chelsea, and a chance to zoom out a bit from a season which has run at breakneck pace since November.

On Sky Sports’ The Overlap this week, Wayne Rooney was the guest, and alongside Jamie Carragher he got into some fun debate about how Erling Haaland compared with some of the Premier League’s all time greats – including Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

Jon Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba celebrate in the 2012 Champions League final.

“I think Erling Haaland is a better goal scorer than Drogba,” the striker said.

“If I’m trying to make a decision here, the questions is if you’re going into a Champions League semi-final, two legs, who do you want in your team? And at this moment in time I would have picked Drogba.”

Well that’s always been the Drogba dilemma hasn’t it? The his record in finals is unbelievably good, but his general scoring rate surprisingly poor for a player of outstanding quality.

As someone who actually faced off with Drogba many times, we’d back Rooney’s opinion on this all the way.
