Liam Scales reckons that Celtic will have to be at their best if they are to complete a domestic clean sweep this year and add a Scottish Cup to the pending Scottish Premiership title…

The Irishman knows how difficult the Dons can make it for the Bhoys on occasion, as the former Shamrock Rovers man was part of the side that beat Aberdeen on penalties in last year’s Semi-final at Hampden in a pulsating fixture.

Scales refers to ‘crazy’ semi-final against Aberdeen last season

Aberdeen fought hard that day to get back into the match at 3-3 and that fighting spirit will have to be overcome if Scales and his teammates have any chance of taking all the glory again in 2025.

After dispensing with St Jobnstone last weekend to book their place in the final once again, Celtic looked somewhat back to their best and a million miles away from the side that had succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at McDiarmid Park just couple of weeks beforehand.

Pedal-to-the-floor attitude is now required of Celtic

That pedal-to-the-floor attitude is now required by Scales and his comrades as the finishing line is in sight for this season and the opportunity to win another domestic Treble.

When asked if the plan was to really go hard now, he responded: “Yeah, definitely. I think we just hit sort of a bit of a lull. And it happens in the season at certain stages. So now that that’s gone and we’ve put it behind us, it’s really important to get up and kick on for the rest of the year because we can make it a really enjoyable four or five weeks,” he said as reported by Daily Record.

Jimmy Thelin’s side have proven they can cut it against the Hoops this year too, with a battling 2-2 draw at Celtic Park earlier in the campaign showcasing a robustness when called upon to deliver against the current and soon-to-be champions of Scotland.

That is something the ex-Dons man is not taking lightly either.

“We need to be at our best every week to win games”

“Obviously, in the League Cup this year, we had a good game against them,” Scales added.. “That’s in our minds. But there’s also that one from last season where it could have gone either way. If we’re not at it, we know what they can do.

“We need to be at our best every week to win games. We definitely don’t want it to go like last year’s Scottish Cup semi. Definitely not. It was a mad game. But that’s just an example. Aberdeen are a good side. If we’re not quite 100 percent at it, especially in a Cup final at Hampden when it’s not like we’ve got home advantage, then anything can happen in the Cup. We know that. We know we need to be at our best.”
