Chelsea have been beaten 3-1 by Brighton at Stamford Bridge, and it’s now time for the post-mortem.
Jorrel Hato was one of the few players to emerge with much credit from the game, impressing after stepping in at centre back.
“I think for everyone in the first half we were playing good, we dominated them. Scored a good goal and second half after 10 minutes we concede a red card. After that we know it could be difficult.”
“For me it looks like Trevoh was playing the ball. I have to see it back again, I don’t know. When you’re 10 men against 11 for 40 minutes it’s big,” he continued.
He certainly needs to see it again – it was a definite red, with no touch on the ball, unfortunately.
“We knew they were playing to the side and coming with crosses. I’d have to see the goal back as well but we could have done better as well.”
There’s no denying that goal was a disaster defensively – from Malo Gusto getting skinned to the centre backs allowing Danny Welbeck a free header.

Hato’s first appearance at centre back for Chelsea was alongside Chalobah – but after his red it was Josh Acheampong who was on to play with the Dutchman. This might not be the last time we see the two of them together, given the injuries and suspensions depleting out options at the back.
The good news is that, according to Hato, the two know each other well and is a fan of the academy starlet:
“I’ve known him for a long time. We’re the same age and he’s a very intelligent player. It was nice to play with him,” Hato said when asked about a potential partnership with his fellow teenager.
