Another international tournament - and another exit from it in the quarter-final phase. Bayern lost 2-0 against PSG and are out of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Here are the comments from headcoach Vincent Kompany and Konrad Laimer after the game:

Vincent Kompany (coach, FC Bayern):

On the game itself: “We just didn't reward ourselves in my opinion. I can't critisise the boys for their performance, because they did play well. We needed that kind of performance against this PSG team - we forced them into many mistakes, they got two red cards, but we couldn't reward ourselves, even though there was more in it for us, sadly.”

“But that's football. I knew the details would be the deciding factor in this game. It could've been 1-0 or 2-0 for us today, or 0-1 for them - it was a game full of high intensity and top quality.”

On possible frustration over the amount of injuries for Bayern: “I'm not one to whine about this kind of stuff. It happens and of course we always look out to reduce the risk of injuries, but sometimes, like in Jamal's [Musiala] case, you can't stop it from happening. You have to get lucky when it comes to injuries, because you can't control everything - and it's of course very sad for Jamal [Musiala].”

On the reaction to Musiala's injury: “It was tough, I've rarely been so angry at halftime. Not against my players, just because there are many much more important things in life - but for these players, football is their life. Jamal [Musiala] lives for this. He just came back from a setback and it happens again, you just feel powerless. The idea for the group is to gain strength out of these situations. The team was fighting and we were just starting to edge the game in the second half.”

On the vacation plans for the players: “Tomorrow we will travel home and the players will have three weeks of vacation until the preperation for next season starts. I know other clubs have started their preperations already, but it's important for my players to get some mental rest as well and to gain some strength in a break.”

On what he has learned from coach Manuel Pellegrini: “I learned that if you believe in your attacking players, you will win trophies and beat teams. When he came to Manchester City, we had one of the most attacking squads in the leage and many teams couldn't handle it. That's the biggest thing I remember from my time under Pellegrini.”

Konrad Laimer (player, FC Bayern):

On the game against PSG: “We saw two top teams playing against each other in a game, where small details made the difference. For them, it was the fact they had attacking player, who had that special something today. We never gave up and I really thought we could get the draw before the final whistle, but then the 2nd goal came and that was really unnecessary - but that's football.”

On his teammate Musiala and his injury: “I haven't heard the diagnosis, but it looked pretty bad. It hurts, because he is so important for us and just a fabulous player on the pitch.”

On Müller's exit from the club: “To be honest, it's very difficult to wrap your head around it - I haven't really understood, that he will be gone after this match. But again, that's also football. I really enjoyed my time with him here.”
