Pep Guardiola says there are plenty of players in the City squad capable of scoring more goals.
Erling Haaland has netted 15 times across all competitions so far, with Phil Foden the next best on two while six squad members have scored once each.
Speaking in his Friday press conference ahead of this weekend’s visit of Bournemouth, Guardiola acknowledged that there’s currently too much reliance on Haaland to find the net.
However, he says there’s a plethora of talent that can add more goals to their game over the coming weeks to relieve some of the burden off the Norwegian.
“The numbers up front have to be better,” he said.
“They know it, but we have players with the ability to score goals, Rayan Cherki, Phil, they’re playing good but we have to find the big players with the impact.
“That’s why I’m optimistic in the position we’re in. In the Champions League, we’re in a better position than last season.
“We are six points off Arsenal, they look unstoppable right now, play fantastic are so solid and can score from many ways but outside of that we will make a step, be better and be closer.
“We’ll be tighter and able to win.”
Haaland has now netted an astonishing 139 goals in just 158 City appearances and is chasing his third Premier League Golden Boot in four seasons.
Guardiola made it clear that the No.9 isn’t worn down by the pressure of leading the line.
“He’s not tired of scoring goals,” said Guardiola.
“When he’s tired he can tell me, before when Omar was injured he couldn't, but they can play there with Rayan Cherki.
“We can play in different shapes depending on the opponent.”
