Last night, we experienced a very special moment for the Rojiblanca Academy, as Natalia Pérez made her first appearance as a professional player, leaving a positive impression on the field. At the same time, Chivas Femenil fulfilled the U-21 minutes requirement—going beyond the minimum—reaffirming its commitment to developing young talent.

Chivas fans always get excited when a new prospect emerges and shows promise on the pitch. While we’ve already seen cases like Mia Urbano—who scored last Sunday in just her second professional match—head coach Antonio Contreras emphasized in a press conference the importance of guidance and development beyond just playing time.

“All the best is still ahead for these players—the road is long, they’re only 16 years old. It’s not about one or two matches; we can play them or not, but what matters is that they are taken care of and guided through the process. Right now, I act as a coach and, with all due respect, sometimes like a father to help guide them.”

Since his arrival in the Clausura 2025, it has been common for academy players to train with the first team, helping them adapt to a dynamic they will eventually need to own. It’s not just about what happens on the field, but also about how they conduct themselves off it.

“There’s a process, and if we rush things, we won’t help them. What they need is seriousness from us. There’s a sporting education behind all this—that they learn from players like ‘Licha,’ ‘Caro,’ ‘Boyi,’ and others.”

A total of 12 academy players have been involved with the first team during Contreras’ tenure across three tournaments. Regardless of whether they make their debut, they are closely monitored while continuing their development with the U-19 squad. Their talent is also recognized at the international level, as many are regularly called up to youth national teams, gaining valuable experience they can later bring back to Chivas.

The Rojiblanca Academy’s talent is more present than ever in Chivas Femenil’s daily work—a seed that will sooner rather than later bear fruit.
