Joao Felix has only played about 15 minutes on his loan to AC Milan, and they’re already talking about buying him permanently.
The Portuguese signed for the Italian giants on deadline day and then scored last night after coming on for his debut with a lovely little dink. After the game, their sporting director Geoffrey Moncada was already being asked about his chances of securing Felix beyond the expiry of his loan in June:
“Keeping João Félix here? It will depend on João and on us. There are always chances, even without a buy option clause”. “We’ve an excellent relationship with Chelsea so… we will see,” Moncada said.
So there he confirms there isn’t a set fee in the deal which Milan can match, but beyond that he couldn’t do much more to open things up for a move.
The “excellent relationship” he talks about has mainly comprised of us selling Milan a lot of our unwanted squad players over the last 10+ years, and we expect that to continue if Felix does well. The money situation may be tricky given Chelsea paid a silly amount for Felix, but there’s always a way to work these things out, especially if he does well enough that there’s a lot of pressure from their fans to secure him long term.

As we’ve said before, it was a huge mistake for Chelsea to buy Felix this summer, and any chance we can get to sell him on for a not-too-big loss should be taken. We really hope he keeps scoring and keeps performing for Milan (where he already looks a better fit than at Stamford Bridge) so that everyone can be happy with a deal in the summer.
