After a recovery day, Eintracht began preparations for the trip to St. Pauli with 24 players, a good atmosphere and a high-intensity session.
The sun was shining on the Deutsche Bank Park training pitches on Wednesday morning as the Eintracht players began their warm-up with stretching exercises in a large circle, accompanied by Schahriar Bigdeli, head of the conditioning department, and conditioning coach Thomas Pitzke. Head coach Albert Riera joined a few minutes later and surveyed the good-natured scene, chatting here and there.
Preparations for trip to Hamburg
There was no change in terms of personnel for the Eagles, with Rasmus Kristensen, Arthur Theate, Ansgar Knauff, Can Uzun, Michy Batshuayi and Younes Ebnoutalib all absent from the 24-man training group as they continue their recoveries from injury.
Eintracht will need to play their way out of tight situations at the Millerntor-Stadion on Sunday if they are to get anything from the meeting with St. Pauli; as such, escaping pressure was the name of the game in training.
While the outfield players worked up a sweat, Michael Zetterer completed equally intensive drills, including saving shots fired at him by Jens Grahl and Amil Siljevic.
Following a brief explanation by Riera, the session concluded with a game played between the edges of the two penalty areas in order to be as prepared as possible for the visit to St. Pauli.
