Paul Mullin, the prolific striker who became synonymous with Wrexham's remarkable ascent, is set to depart the club following the mutual termination of his contract.

His exit marks the end of an era for the 31-year-old, who played a pivotal role in the Welsh side's journey from the National League to the Championship.

Since arriving from Cambridge in 2021, Mullin netted an impressive 110 goals in 172 appearances, cementing his status as a fan favourite.

His profile soared further through his prominent feature in the award-winning Welcome to Wrexham docuseries, with co-owner Ryan Reynolds previously stating he "could not imagine seeing Mulls on loan and in another kit" following his move to Wigan last season.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson expressed his gratitude, stating: "I would like to wish Paul all the best. This settlement enables him to take his time and find the right club for him, going forward.

“It can’t be underestimated the role Mulls has played in the story of Wrexham Football Club over the last five years, with so many memorable goals and moments."

Parkinson added: "He’ll be a player always remembered and revered by our supporters."

Mullin, who secured three consecutive player of the season awards, was also one of only ten players to achieve back-to-back-to-back promotions with the club.

However, after falling down the pecking order ahead of Wrexham’s season in the Championship last summer, Mullin was sent out on loan to Wigan Athletic in League One.

He made 26 appearances for Wigan across all competitions, scoring five goals.

Mullin then moved to Bradford City on loan for the second half of the season. He was restricted to just nine matches for the club, and failed to score during this period.

Meanwhile, Wrexham came desperately close to reaching the Championship play-offs before missing out to Hull City on the final day of the season. Hull went on to win the play-offs to seal their return to the Premier League.

Wrexham will target another promotion push next season, but will do so without Mullin in their squad.
