Victor Boniface (24) is set to complete a loan move from Bayer Leverkusen to Werder Bremen. Sky Germany report that the Nigerian forward has already completed his medical examination with only the player’s signature now missing.
Bremen’s interest in Boniface only surfaced on Monday morning, but the Hanseatic City club have moved fast to find an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen, who themselves have had a busy day with the dismissal of head coach Erik ten Hag and signing of Ezequiel Fernández for a reported €30m.
Boniface has been an excellent servant to Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 32 goals and providing 12 assists in 61 games across all competitions, but wasn’t in Ten Hag’s plans. Italian outfit Milan also showed interest in signing the Nigeria international during the summer, but a move collapsed after the player failed a medical test.
Werder’s recruitment team are also working on a deal to bring Cameron Puertas to the club, while Romano Schmid is also expected to stay with the Hanseaten and take on more of a leadership role despite interest from the Premier League.
