According to Kicker, Werder Bremen have stepped up their efforts in recent days to re-sign Portuguese forward André Silva from RB Leipzig — this time on a permanent basis. However, Werder still have a lot of work to do if they are to bring the 29-year-old back to the Weserstadion.
For any deal to go through, Leipzig will need to lower their expectations regarding a transfer fee. Silva would also have to accept a significant pay cut compared to his current contract — worth €7m per season — with Die Roten Bullen, which has just one year remaining.
Having spent the second half of last season on loan, Silva is reportedly keen to return to Werder and work under new manager Horst Steffen. The 56-year-old has so far not been impressed with the state of his new side’s attack, highlighted by their recent stalemate with Italian outfit Parma in pre-season.
All parties involved seem eager to make a deal happen. However, it remains to be seen how the deal will ultimately come together.
