The transfer operation concerning Julian Alvarez and FC Barcelona remains completely open right now. With Atletico Madrid unwilling to budge too easily, and with Barça president Joan Laporta even publicly dropping hints, the whole saga is a mess right now.

However, as far as the player is concerned, he has made it obvious enough that he wants a transfer this summer. Moreover, several Barça players have shared their opinions on the potential move as well, with the latest player to do so being Lamine Yamal.

Yet, the generational young winger went beyond just praising the qualities of the Atletico Madrid forward. In a recent interview, as quoted by Cadena SER, the player shared his thoughts when asked what he thought of a potential transfer:

“To be honest, I haven’t thought about it much right now, but I certainly hope so because he’s a great player. If he comes, we’ll welcome him with open arms. He’d be joining the best club in the world, the best fans in the world, and, in my opinion, the best city in the world.”

However, Yamal took things one step ahead by urging the player to make the move if he truly wants it. In fact, he even claimed that if he was in the Argentinean striker’s place, he would have taken this step towards Barcelona:

“If I were him, I’d make the move. If he wants to come, we’re waiting for him. Go for it.”

This is a massive statement from the 18-year-old Spanish winger, but it is also exactly why Lamine Yamal’s explosive character tends to shine as it does. Always willing to share his thoughts as transparently as possible, this particular wink towards Julian Alvarez could end up going a long way. As of right now, however, the deal will likely take some time to progress given the strained relationship between the two involved clubs.
