Wesley Fofana and Malo Gusto moved to allay injury concerns after both were withdrawn late in Chelsea’s 4-1 win at Aston Villa, a week before facing PSG in the Champions League.

L'Équipe reports that both defenders appear available for France duty in March, with Gusto currently seen as closer than Fofana to a call-up by Didier Deschamps.

Gusto set up the opener for Joao Pedro on 35 minutes, then went to ground and was replaced by Romeo Lavia on 75. Moments earlier Fofana had felt the back of his left thigh, stayed on briefly, then made way for Tosin Adarabioyo on 79.

With Jules Koundé injured and his national-team role potentially shifting, Gusto offered quiet reassurance by posting match photos on Instagram, captioning that it was the kind of night they like.

Fofana countered chatter on X about an injury and a limping return to the dressing room, replying in English that he was fine. To another user, he wrote, “Hein? J'ai rien du tout wesh”, adding laughing emojis.

Chelsea visit the Parc des Princes for the last-16 first leg next Wednesday at 21:00.
