FLW's West Brom fan pundit has been discussing Isaac Price's situation at The Hawthorns after remaining a Baggie as the summer window slams shut.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Perhaps the best piece of summer transfer business West Bromwich Albion completed was retaining the services of Isaac Price.
West Brom and Ryan Mason look to have equipped themselves with a squad that is capable of ending their Premier League exile this season.
Whilst important players such as Tom Fellows, Darnell Furlong and Torbjorn Heggem did depart The Hawthorns, Albion were able to make a host of eye-catching additions this summer.
Charlie Taylor, Samuel Iling-Jr, Alfie Gilchrist, Chris Mepham and Toby Collyer are just some of the new faces, but it is perhaps that of a familiar one in Price who Baggies supporters are most delighted to see remain at the club.
There were whispers of a Premier League move in the offing for him this summer, but the 21-year-old attacking midfielder isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
We asked our West Brom fan pundit, Callum Burgess: 'How relieved are you that Isaac Price remains a West Brom player? He could have been a player in demand given his start to the EFL season.'
Callum said: "Definitely a big relief that Albion have kept hold of Isaac Price after a really, really good start to the season.
"I think that this can be a really big campaign for him. He's looking at becoming one of the best players in the division if he keeps his form up over the course of the season.
"I think that as well, with Fellows going, he might have a different role to play.
"He might be used on the right-hand side from time to time, and playing off the front two of Josh Maja and Aune Heggebo for example; those are just a few of the ideas that Ryan Mason might want to experiment with this season.
"I think that should he keep the form up that he is at, we'll be looking at a very, very big return on the €3M/£2.6m, that we paid for him in January from Standard Liege.
"He'll definitely be one of the more sought after players next season. Hopefully he does end up having a really good campaign for us, and goes on to be one of our best players this season, and hopefully secure us a place in the top six."
Price is quickly building his reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in English football outside of the Premier League.
The Northern Ireland international may only have scored one goal and provided one assist in his first 15 Championship games after joining West Brom for the second half of last season, but those numbers didn't tell anywhere near the full story that every Albion fan saw.
However, his numbers to start the 25/26 season most certainly are a true reflection of how talented and vital he is to their success through the early exchanges of the campaign.
Three goals and one assist from his first four Championship games, whilst also adding an assist in their Carabao Cup defeat to Derby County.
Capable of operating pretty much anywhere across the midfield and forward line, Price is a constant thorn in opposition's side due to his ability to pick up the ball and hurt you from anywhere on the pitch.
Having a chance and goal-creating machine is going to be so vital to West Brom's success this season given the aforementioned exit of Fellows, who joined Southampton in a £10m deal.
He scored four goals and provided a joint-Championship best 14 assists for Albion last season, which when you consider West Brom scored a modest 57 league goals last term, Fellows directly contributing to 18 of those highlights how vital he was to the team.
Therefore, taking a player like that out of the side is always going to leave a significant void, and one that usually requires a host of players to collectively fill, rather than relying on another individual to take the baton on their own.
However, Price's early evidence suggests he can in fact do that for Albion this season, and if he does, he will undoubtedly and firmly cement himself as one of the very best midfielders in the second tier, and perhaps even help his team reclaim their place among English football's elite.
