West Brom signed off pre-season with a win at London Road, debutant Nolan Galves catching the eye on the right. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the defender’s delivery and energy stood out as Albion ended their final friendly on a high.

Goalkeeper Max O’Leary was rarely troubled but swept up smartly when Peterborough tried to slip runners in behind. Nat Phillips was rugged at centre-half and George Campbell captained well, the pair looking to play long when possible.

Callum Styles shook off a first-half knock and played a part in Aune Heggebo’s opener. Jayson Molumby, booked before the break, snapped into challenges and flicked neatly in the move, and Isaac Price’s cross provided the assist.

On 68, Conor Townsend, Mikey Johnston, Barney Stewart and Alex Williams entered. Johnston operated centrally and supplied an assist as he steps up his comeback, with Stewart applying a cool finish then spurning a late chance. Later changes on 77 saw Alex Mowatt, Matty Crowther and Ollie Bostock introduced.

Galves was rated 8, with Campbell, Phillips, Whitwell, Molumby and Price on 7. O’Leary, Styles, Diakite, Morgan, Heggebo, Townsend and Williams received 6, while Johnston and Stewart earned 7 and the late trio were not rated. Unused substitutes were Ingram, Cisse, Bielik, Gilchrist and Mepham.
